exceedとsurpassの違い【「超える」の使い分け】
どちらも「超える」を意味する動詞で、使い分けが必要です。
それぞれの意味は以下の通りです。
exceed = to be larger, greater than something
surpass = to go beyond
つまりexceedはある基準や予想を上回るという意味での「超える」で、surpassは誰かを超えるとか「打ち勝つ」に近いニュアンスがあります。
